![]() ![]() Thank you to Sue, who kindly searched and found this in Pat Murray's General Issue'scatalogue for me, thank you Sue. It's listed under Duck Posy Bowls, c 1948-1953, Colourways, Duck Preening, Light green all over. Thank you to Karyl, who kindly hunted up this find for me before I even bid and found one almost identical in a catalogue, thank you Karyl! When my copy of the book arrived and I saw what she had seen, oh dear ... It is the mate to what I have, called a Drake. It is same but has the bird leaning down as though peeking around the side of the pot, and there is a kind of 'poof' at the end of the tail. My Duck has ever since been pining badly for it's Drake mate... If someone ever comes across such, especially as a $6 flea market find... LOL!! There are a number of different animals in this set too. Barbara, astonishingly enough, did in fact come across the beautiful Squirrel Posy for $6 as a fleamarket find! It is said that the animals were made before the war but not used until afterwards, when they were then stuck onto bases with mustard pots and called posys, with usually green or brown backstamp. Some were plain, some had the pot and animal painted in colours and some also had flowers added to the rim. Thank you to Naseem from the WhimsieGroup who gave me permission to include her picture of some of the happy posys from her devine Wade collection ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
