How lucky I was to meet Pat Gallant while on a road trip through the Maritimes! Here she is in her camper, surrounded by some of her beautiful quilts. She brings this trailer out to the roadside in tourist season and hangs her shingle. Many more of her quilts hang in a shop in the city of Charlottetown. Pat's other wonderful crafts were for sale in the camper also.

Pat
Pat's delightful, welcoming house is itself a treasure to visit, reflecting her exhuberant, creative Maritime self. Her use of wallpaper and paint trims is much fun to see, and the big plastic squirrel she has running up the side of the house is a perfect entrance. Go anywhere, and you will find bc listers with open arms! Thank you Pat!

Pat lives just outside the village of Miscouche, in Canada's smallest and most lovely Province of Prince Edward Island.
red soil

PEI is a tiny island known for beauty, potatoes, fishing villages, friendly communities, and red earth. The red colour comes from iron oxide in the soil and shows especially red after a rain. Pat has told me about the amazing sight of red snow on trees when high winds come up and carry soil into the air. PEI is also the home of Anne of Green Gables.
