This page is the start page to wood working and turning hints. Click on any blue underlined text to check out various workshop ideas.
Due to space restrictions on this free site I have had to remove several pages of hints - so stuff changes as I change.
I really like to explore jigs and fixtures to make life in the workshop simpler and more efficient. Of course every one has their own ideas and what works for one person does not always work for someone else. For information about what to look for in turned products click here.
Some things I can't improve on. Here is a great treatise on making your own tools. Its not mine but check it out at Wood Central; http://www.woodcentral.com/russ/russ10.shtml
What works for you may not work for me...
I like to do "faceplate" work though I seldom use an actual faceplate since the advent of the woodturners chuck - I have three chucks - the best one being a Oneway Stronghold. The others are equiped with extended jaws to hold work when cleaning up bottoms.
Most of my pieces pass through the hands of the Quality Control Officer or She Who Must Be Obeyed. If roughness exists SWMBO will find it and bring it to my attention - without fail.
Thank you Janet!
