Elwood Muusik 0156 0011
Recorded in 1998 at the Tallinn Townhall Studio. Released in 1998.
Recording Engineer: Elmu Värk; Producer/Project Director: Paul Pihlak
This recording is a reunion of past and present members of the Ultima Thule rock group. Tõnis Mägi and Aare Põder, who were present on the 1st LP recording from 1988, and left the group in the interim, return for this recording. Two of the string quartet players from the 1988 recording make a reappearance as well. Tüür's string arrangements are present on every track and the songs are a selection from over the group's 10 year history. The selections represent the softer side of the group and the performances are of the unplugged variety. In many cases, the string parts repeat the lines played by electric guitars in the original performances/recordings.

There is more information about this release at Mel Huang's excellent Estonian Progressive Rock Webpage. There is a page on the Ultima Thule (with string quartet) CD and an enthusiastic descriptive review of the recording. The latter will especially be useful for those who are unable to obtain this recording but would at least like to imagine how it sounds. Mr. Huang's descriptions are very evocative of the music.
