Al Duncan

I live in Barrie, Ontario, Canada

My beginnings in Taijiquan started at age 46, when I took an introductory evening course offered at the local College in 1993. This was a simplified/combined long form taught mainly for health purposes. I continued to study with this teacher (Judith MacKay) and attend many seminars offered through the Canadian Taijiquan Federation until in 1994, I was lucky enough to meet an excellent Taijiquan teacher in Toronto (David Lau - Lau Yiu Lam). I have been making the one hour trip to Toronto from 1 to 3 times per week ever since to attend classes. Currently I am studying the Yang 10 form (beginner form), The Yang 16 form, Yang short form (40 forms), the Yang long form (113 forms), and joint-hand operation (push hands techniques). I have also begun learning the sequence for a Wu style 32 forms, and a Yang sword form (Jian) and a Saber (Dao) form,  in addition to a Chen style 13 short form. I have found that my current teacher has so much to offer in knowledge and experience, that I no longer feel the need to look elsewhere. I could study under him for another 20 years and still never hope to learn everything he offers to us.
