Course Benefits

One primary benefit of attending this comprehensive, five-day workshop is sharing your practical problems with a small group of about fifteen fellow planning professionals. As a working group, you will share expertise. You will help one another explore solutions to specific transportation planning problems. Dr. Mekky will be on hand throughout to lend his expert assistance.

During the Workshop, you will learn modelling and Emme. But even if your present job does not require you to directly use these tools, you will become familiar with them, and will be able to make a sound judgement if you are managing a consultant/ employee who uses them.

Emme Practice

As a participant in this course you will develop hands-on experience using Emme. It is one of the world’s most powerful transportation software packages. It is widely used by more than 600 transportation organizations in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Emme provides a flexible environment for transportation model development, calibration and validation. The software’s main features include the following:
  • Equilibrium assignment
  • Bi-modal assignment
  • Variable demand assignment
  • Impressive graphics
Participants in this course should have a working knowledge of Excel. Exercises include calibrating Trip Generation and Trip Distribution models using Excel and Emme. These practical sessions will help you understand the details of modelling in terms of their application to your area. Bringing your laptop to the class would speed up your ability to exercise with Emme.
