Frank Clark at Tangmere

This is the 421 Squadron dispersal hut at RAF Station Tangmere. It is probably late April or early May 1944. F/L Frank Clark sits on a battered settee in front of a map of North-western Europe.

These pilots, sitting in front of the dispersal hut are probably on 'readiness' waiting to receive the word to take off. They are: unknown, hidden, F/L Johnny Drope, F/L Wally Quint, F/O Robert Murray, F/L Frank Clark and F/L Bill Stronach.
In another month Quint would be back in Canada while Drope, Murray and Clark would be killed in action.

The sun has come out and off go the shirts. F/L Johnny Drope has acquired a black dog sitting on the chair next to him, F/L Wally Quint has left, F/O Robert Murray, F/L Frank Clark and F/L Bill Stronach are joined by F/L Len Thorne.
