5 Elements - Giving Girls The EDGE
"The way that a girl handles adolescence can have long reaching implications … Without some help, the loss of wholeness, self-confidence and self-direction can last well into adulthood."
Mary Pipher, Ph.D. - Reviving Ophelia

Girls Today
"Girls face an extraordinary challenge in our changing world. They are dealing with more sophisticated issues than ever before and they are doing so with less adult contact and guidance than ever before".
We have come to realize that the challenges that tween and teen girls are facing today are not going away by impacting, however importantly a few hundred girls each year.
Additionally, despite countless anti-bullying programs within schools and "no tolerance" rules, bullying and cyberbullying continue to have profound consequences on our children today; the worst being loss of life through suicide.
Reactive programs do not work! With that in mind, we are revamping 5 Elements in order to provide the opportunity for thousands of girls in Canada and beyond to benefit from the proactive, interactive approach which 5 Elements offers by working with schools, community groups, youth-serving organizations, camps, professional organizations and Corporations.
By providing girl-specific, proactive programming that promotes self-confidence, self-awareness, empathy and respect for individual differences to the girls of today, we envision a future generation of strong, competent and resilient women, able to handle life's challenges with flexibility and a solid grounding in their own identity.
We will be relaunching 5 Elements in the fall of 2010. Stay tuned!
