"You have done an amazing job in translating the few items I have mailed to you.  You have gone above and beyond .. and I truly appreciate your personal interest in your translations.  Your translations are outstanding."
That is what a client from Forty Fort, PA, wrote about my work.  Later in this page, you can read more testimonials from my clients, and even e-mail some of them directly.  But first .....

MY SERVICES:

MY BACKGROUND:  Having been born and raised in Canada, I acquired English as my mother tongue; and, having received a Jewish education and lived in Israel for 8 years, I have also acquired fluency in Hebrew.  I am, therefore, perfectly suited to translate from Hebrew into English.

I have been associated with a local (Toronto) commercial translation service for over 7 years.  My freelance clients, most of whom are genealogy researchers, are generally from the U.S.A. and Canada, and some from the U.K. and as far away as New Zealand.

FEES AND PAYMENT

The fee is calculated on a per-word basis.  What I charge per word depends on the difficulty of the Hebrew, the legibility of the text, and the amount of work given to me.  Modern newspaper Hebrew, for instance, stands at the easy end of the spectrum; while, "Melitzah" Hebrew (the Bible-inspired Hebrew used by the "Maskilim" of the nineteenth century) would stand at the difficult end.  Handwritten texts are charged more than printed ones.  Large jobs are charged lower, bulk rates.

I accept payment by cheque (U.S. or Canadian), money order or cash.

TESTIMONIALS

"Working with you has been a real treat.  You are meticulous in your work and provide a very personal service that few translators can equal.  In my case, I needed help with rabbinical genealogical research which required, not just expert translation, but also some knowledge of the field, and I found your service to be outstanding."

"You have done an amazing job in translating the few items I have mailed to you.  You have gone above and beyond .. and I truly appreciate your personal interest in your translations.  Your translations are outstanding." -  a client from Forty Fort, Pennsylvania

"Thank you very much indeed for your extremely competent and scholarly translation of my uncle's letter.  ... I particularly appreciate your retention of the flavor, as you put it, of the translation.  It makes me realize how much probably is missing from the translations of the other letters that I have [had done by someone else]."  "As always, it's a pleasure to read a translation that you have prepared.  Thank you for the rendition of my uncle's Ketubah." - a client from Danville, California.  (Click here to e-mail this client for a reference.)

"Thank you very much for the translation.  I can appreciate how difficult it was as a learned rabbi I know could not do it."  -  a client from Delray Beach, Florida.

"I want to thank you for your excellent work."  - a client from Brooklyn, New York.

"Thank you so much for the excellent translation job.  You certainly went above and beyond the call of duty, giving me an incredible amount of information.  (I especially appreciated your parenthetical comments as I'm not well versed in many of the terms and organizations of the time.)" - Debra Katz from Los Altos, California.  (Click on her name to e-mail her.)

"The translation service itself is well worth the money spent.  In addition to translation, Mr. Korn goes further in that he provides knowledgeable comments to assist the [genealogical] researcher.  I have been dealing with Mr. Korn for more than three years." - Col U.S.A. (retired) Harry E. Stein.  (Click on his name to send him your e-mail letter.)
