Stop the abuse, Start the healing

Every Day is Earth Day

The giant garbage generator is continually dumping on Mother Earth.   I theorize that some "natural disasters" are her way of trying to purge herself of human poisons.

Her air, lands and waters are so polluted that the frog is becoming extinct.  The rapid disappearance of this amazing amphibian is an alarm signal as is the increasing frequency and severity of so-called natural disasters.  Those who can not see beyond the ends of their noses are unaware of how their attitudes and habits adversely affect the well-being of Mother Earth and all life on her.  This disrespectful and rapacious attitude is robbing the environment of its wealth and health.

Individuals' insatiable demand for convenience and industries' greed for profits are primarily responsible for the raping of Mother Earth.  Canucks are a wasteful bunch.  Although environmental awareness is growing slowly and theoretically "protection laws" are in place, industries continue to produce to excess and individuals continue to consume and dispose of product packaging in their own front yards.   Everywhere I go I see litter, including paper cups, cigarette butts and pop cans.   My local city's Public Works Department ought to hire me to help keep our streets clean because I care.  I am compelled to place litter in the cans provided, and carry home recyclables for curbside pick-up.

An Indian proverb states, "The frog does not drink up the pond in which he lives".  Unfortunately people are not like frogs, not enough of us are committed caretakers of Mother Earth.  So much remains to be done and undone.   Will our continual efforts to repair the damage as we pollute cause us to ultimately sink or swim?
