The motto of the OMCA is Friendly Competition. We enjoy cycling, competition and the camaraderie of dedicated cyclists who spin over hill and dale of rural Ontario.
Our Time Trials, Ability Pursuits and Age Handicap Pursuits are friendly and safe. Though small in comparison to other OCA sanctioned events, they are, nonetheless, very competitive. Average winning speeds top 38 kph for handicap events and peak in the mid-40 kph for our 40 km time trials. Setting the pace of our peleton are national time trial champion Fred Pepper, provincial time trial champion David Jack, and O-Cup regulars Bert Candela and Craig Doucet.
OMCA competition fills a niche between sponsored events and club rides. While some of our members race in national championships and international competitions, many are also active in local clubs, including Aurora, Brampton, Cambridge, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Mississauga, Newmarket, Oakville, St. Catharines, Stratford, Toronto, and Woodstock.
OMCA membership is open to anyone over the age 35 for women and 40 for men. Because of insurance requirements, you must be a member or associate member to join our rides. We have a full schedule of races planned for the coming year. All our events start at 10:00 Sunday morning, but be sure to arrive at least by 9:30 to register and warm up. Exceptions or schedule changes will be announced in advance.
Contact any member of the Executive if you have questions.
