OVER THE PORTAGE: Early History
of the Upper Miramichi is a detailed account of the founding and
settlement of the parishes of Ludlow and Blissfield at the headwaters of the
Miramichi River in Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada. First
published in 1984, this updated edition covers an exciting period in the
province's history, 1790-1851. The 1851 Census for these two parishes
appears in the book. Detailed maps of the era and extensive family
history/genealogical notes are found in the appendices.
