Need a Friend to continue our remembrance of the CEF 58th Battalion - by the year 2026, we will need to find a Friend who is keen to help remember the 58th Battalion by coordinating our annual meeting on October 26th and maintaining our list of Friends of the 58th. Since 1997, Benjamin has maintained this web site and soon we will need to pass the torch to younger Friends. These remembrance tasks are very simple and only require 10 hours of work a year. If you are interested, please contact Benjamin.

The Four Founding Friends (Benjamin, Gord, Ian, and Kevin) have got together every year on October 26 since their pilgrimage
Back to the Front in 2002. As always, other Friends are welcome to join us.

On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 1200 to 1400 hours EST (Eastern Standard Time in North America) (Noon to 2 PM Toronto time), our Friends are having lunch in Newmarket, Ontario, an hour north of Toronto, at
Moxies Grill Bar, 17390 Yonge St, Newmarket, ON L3Y 7R6, (just south of the Upper Canada Mall), Telephone 905-953-0920. This is our 20th annual meeting. Also, for those who can't attend the lunch in person, you may be able to join virtually by Zoom.

The Friends of the 58th sometimes attend the Sunday Remembrance Service at the
Church of the Transfiguration,
111 Manor Road East, near Eglinton and Yonge, in Toronto, M4S 1R4. This unique service, usually held on the Sunday closest to Remembrance Day, starts at 10:30 AM and often includes the playing of the Last Post by Sam Cancellara. One of the Friends is sometimes invited to say a few words about the CEF 58th Battalion.
-
After the service, cookies, coffee, and tea are usually available at the Church.
-
In 1921, the Church of the Transfiguration was founded by Major Canon Charles Hedley, one of the chaplains of the CEF 58th during the Great War. The Church is still the home of the 58th Batallion flags.
