Junkyard Treasures
- a Yahoo Discussion group for those people who visit automotive graveyards looking for parts or just enjoy recapturing the old classic cars on film. There are hundreds of yards across Canada and the United States --- many of them are "unknown". Share your stories, pictures and rare finds. Thank you to Jeff for managing this site. Here are some of the junkyards summarized with photos on this site:
-

1216 Sewells Road, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada M1X 1S1. Tel. (416) 286-8686 or 1-800-668-5014

The UPIC Yard is open 7 days a week from April to October. In our designated UPIC area, customers 16 years and older, are free to roam the yard and remove their own parts. The yard is neatly organized with signs to the GM, Chrysler, Ford and Import sections. There is also a Golden Oldies Section.
-
Jackson's Auto Wreckers is just south of the village of Kendall, north of Newtonville and 30 miles east of Toronto. These directions will sound a little crazy... Head north at THE store in Newtonville. Keep a lookout for a black Edsel 4dr on the left hand side (this is Jackson's).
If you pass a ball field/communinity center you have gone too far.
You will not see much from the road except a half dozen cars, the black Edsel and a farmhouse.

427 SC Cobra replica car from Johnex Motorsports in Brampton, Ontario. *** Johnex no longer seriously markets Cobra replicas. *** Not only does this car have an outstanding modified space frame constructed of both tubular and rectangular steel, it also is well engineered and of excellent quality in all other areas, from interior to fiberglass. Plus, the frame and suspension (that is, the "chassis") on the Johnex car is designed as an integrated unit (by CSC racing in Canada). Rather than a collection of Mustang parts adapted to ladder frame, the chassis on the Johnex is designed from the ground-up to be a race-ready, rigid system designed to handle the requirements of high-horsepower racing cobras.

Baumann Electronic Controls
- In 1964, the Ford C-4 transmission was introduced, providing a lightweight and durable three-speed automatic which is a favorite among racers today. The C-4 was produced until 1982, when it was replaced by the C-5.
The C-6 appeared in 1966 as a heavy-duty unit primarily used behind big-block engines or in large vehicles. Internally, it is much like a scaled-up C-4. The C-6 is still used today in certain truck applications.
The Automatic Overdrive (AOD) transmission was introduced in 1980 as Ford's first four-speed automatic overdrive transmission (a.k.a. AOT or FIOD in some literature).

Lindberg Granada and Monarch Models
- Lindberg 1/32 Scale 1976 Ford Granada (no. 373) / Mercury Monarch (no. 377) Model Kit.
The 1976 Ford Granada and 1976 Mercury Monarch were replicated in the form of two model kits produced by the Lindberg Company in the mid 1970’s. As part of their famous Lindberg Line of scale replicas, these were easy-to-build 1/32 scale Snap Kits which did not require glue or paint. To this day, they stand as the only licensed replicas of any version of the American Ford Granada and 1970’s Mercury Monarch ever produced. Thanks to Tony for writing this article and allowing us to use it.
