mystery MacKINNON ancestor #1 -- believed to be Alexander MacKinnon 1876-1916 or possibly his father Alex MacKinnon 1849-1890This family tree information is derived from family knowledge and The Genealogy of John MacKinnon, the Weaver, a manuscript written circa 1979 by Hughina MacKinnon (Mrs. W. L. MacKinnon and daughter-in-law of Dougald MacKinnon). I believe it has never been published. Part of the MacKinnon tree can also be found in the family history, The MacLeods of Glengarry. Sources remain to be checked and facts verified. Finally, Hughina's manuscript is online.

pencil sketch of the father of the man in the previous photoTo protect the privacy of family members, I have cut off the information as of the 3rd generation, as many of the 4th are still living. It seems for every ancestor lost early in life to the perils of childbirth, influenza, tuberculosis, farm or automobile accidents, consumption, or drowning, there's at least one who has lived into their ninth decade, and some to the 10th.

Below is John McKinnon, son of (Alexander McKinnon and Mary Robertson) and Annie McGillivary, daughter of Duncan McGillivary and Maggie McDonald), married 1905 June 09 in West Hawkesbury, according to Marriage Registration records in the Ontario Archives. He was born in 1872 in East Hawkesbury, she on a farm at Breadalbane in Lochiel Twp.

John & Annie (McGILLVARY) McKINNONThe original photograph (current location unknown) was in an aged MacKinnon nephew's house in Lochiel and was copied over twenty years ago and kindly shared via the wonders of e-mail. The image is skewed because of the distortion of the curved glass in the oval frame.

In the spirit of family and family history research, and to encourage sharing of such information, I post it here. However, I do NOT wish to find some software company or individual making a profit by selling such information in ANY format. Infringement of this nature is gutless, unprincipled thievery.
