Similar to Obituary Daily Times in that volunteers provide the obits. You can request an obit lookup without being a contributor. Participants will check libraries and archives for you, but you must have the death date. There is a forum to which you can post requests for papers not yet covered by the list. Papers included are from across the U.S., British Columbia and Ontario in Canada, & Australia.

Leave the name field blank to browse all. Click Rechercher button at the bottom of the page. NOTE: the page defaults to La Presse (Montreal) if there are no results. Beyond 7 days costs $. Merde!

rather than use the local paper's search utility, which is aggravating, circular, and difficult to see (white boxes on white background), use the inmemoriam.ca site and change the newspaper to Prince Albert Daily Herald. Enter the surname and click the green Search arrow and all P.A. obits will come up back into 2008.
Patience! This is a multi-paged .pdf document (view with free Adobe Reader) that is dense with photos, graphics and text, so takes a few seconds to appear. The first page is where the obits start.
Enter a surname in the search box - some deaths from avalanches, ship sinkings, etc., in addition to other references such as addresses, municipal politicians' names, doctors' names, etc. If none is found, this is noted for each searched dataset. NOTE: this information has been compiled by descendants of the gold rush pioneers, so later immigrants may not be included.
