1.
Obtain Driver Picks Form: All pool entrants will be
emailed a Driver Picks
Form. You can use this Excel
spreadsheet to make your picks, or print a copy of the web
page under "The
Drivers" tab. If you're not on
the current Nascar Sprint Cup Pool email distribution list,
please feel free to contact me and ask to be put on the
list.
2.
Make Your Picks: Choose and clearly mark
two (2) drivers from each group. Note that there are
special rules regarding the use of Group 4 (Road Course
Ringers) and Group 5 (Unemployed/Free Agents). Group 4
drivers will only earn points for your team when/if they
participate in the two road course races this year (Watkins
Glen and Infineon). Group 5 drivers will not earn any
points for your team, unless you choose to substitute one
of them, during the season, for one or two of your other 16
drivers who may not be performing up to your expectations.
What constitutes an eligible substitution, is explained
further under
Section 7. When you’re finished
filling in the form, you should have a total of 20 drivers.
Note that car makes, driver numbers, sponsors and even
driver entries themselves, are only as good as the
information that was available at the time I put this form
together. It is your
responsibility
to do adequate research, before submitting your picks.
3.
Entry Fee: The entry fee for the pool
is $20.00 CDN. Note that you may enter as many times as you
wish, but each “team” that is submitted, must be identified
on a separate Driver Picks
Form.
4.
Send in Your Team: All completed entry forms
must be received (or postmarked) no later than 11:59 AM,
Thursday February 17, 2011. Each entry must include
your full name, a team name and an email address. If you do
not have access to email on a regular basis, please provide
a daytime telephone number. Team names will be used on all
the pool standing updates, so if you don't assign a team
name, one will be assigned for you. PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY!
Entry forms may be submitted electronically, via email, and
then you can follow-up with the entry fee, via "snail
mail".
The entry fee must be received before the first posted
season results (approximately 2 days after the running of
the Daytona 500). If no entry fee (cheque, money order, or
cash) is received by Feb 22nd, you may be disqualified from
this year’s pool. If you wish to use “cash”, please contact
me regarding the best way to get your entry fee in, on
time. Entry fees should be sent to the following address:
Bob Wheaton
693 Matthews Road
Port Robinson, Ontario, Canada

5.Points
System: Driver’s points are
accumulated as per the current Nascar Sprint Cup Point
System. If your driver does not qualify or is injured and
does not race, you receive no points for that race. Points
can only be gained if your DRIVER starts the race.
We will be using the actual Sprint Cup driver’s points
throughout the season. This means that once The Chase
starts and the top 12 drivers get bumped up, we will use
those new points. Please do not email me to complain, if
you didn’t pick drivers that don’t make the chase and you
drop in the standings. Everyone is playing by the same
rules and if you don’t like this rule, then please don’t
join the pool!
I use the points as they are posted on Nascar.com, and for
complete information on how Pool Standings are calculated,
check under the "Point
System Details" tab on the web site.
6.
Driver Changes: Should your driver change
teams during the year, his points will transfer to the new
team. Remember you pick the driver, not the car or the team
he drives for.
7.
Entry Changes: Once your picks are
submitted, NO changes can be made, other than those allowed
by the rules that follow, so choose your picks carefully.
To make the racing (i.e., the pool chase) a little tighter,
you will be allowed to substitute a driver, at three
separate occasions during the season. After Week 6 results
have been posted, you may substitute one of your Group 5
drivers for any driver that you have in Groups 1-3, or
Groups 6-9. This substitution is permanent and your team
score from this point onward, will now include the total
season accumulated points of the new driver and no longer
include those earned by the old driver. After Week 12
results have been posted, you will be allowed a second
substitution, similar to the first one. This time, you only
have one driver left from your original Group 5 picks, and
he can only be used to sub for an under-performing driver
in Groups 1-3 or Groups 6-9. You can substitute in the same
Drivers Group as you did after Week 6, if you want, but you
can't use this move to rescind the first move you made.
After Week 18 results are posted, you may make one final
substitution, and that is, changing a driver
within
a Group. You
may change any Group pick you want, with one
stipulation... the driver you drop, must be the worst one
in that particular Group and the new driver must come from
the same Group.
8.
Updates: Updates will be reflected
on the web site and email notification sent to all pool
members whenever the web site is changed.
9.
Prize Payouts: The total cash value of
the prize payout will be dependent on how many entries we
have. Payouts will go to the top twelve finishers and we
will have a estimated $50 prize for winning the Daytona 500
and a payout (to be determined) for the leader half way
through the season. In addition to the Daytona race in
February, I am also going to give individual race result
payouts for hopefully, nine other races. To see a complete
rundown of the money available to be won, check out the
"Prize
Payout"
tab, after all entries have been received.
9a. Tie Breakers: In the event of a tie at
the half-way point of the season, the prize money for being
in first place, will be split evenly amongst the leaders at
the top of the standings.
In the event of ties at
the end of the season, the money will be split evenly from
a combination of the prize winnings for the respective
places in the standings. That is, if there was a 2-way tie
for 3rd place, then the third place money is combined with
the fourth place money and the resultant total is split
evenly between the two teams that tied for third.
There are also individual races that offer prize money to
the one team that gathers the most points for that
particular race. As the money to be won, is significantly
smaller than prize amounts for placing high in the
standings, I have decided that there will be a specific
tie-breaker for these races, and only one winner. If two or
more teams tie for the best race results, the tie-breaker
will be your highest placed driver. If both teams have the
winning driver on their team, then the next tie-breaker is
your second highest placing driver, and so on, until the
tie is broken.
10.
Miscellaneous Stuff: If you have any questions,
please feel free to email me. Anytime I send out
information, I will send it to your e-mail address.
However, if the mail comes back as undeliverable more than
two weeks in a row, your email address will be taken off
the email distribution list. Please keep me up-to-date if
you change internet service providers, or acquire a new
email address. I will try to post the standings within two
days of the race. However, if life gets in the way, it will
have to wait until I can get to it.
