"Picking Locks"

by Bonnie Toews

"Is it true that there is no locking device on earth
that can't be opened? Fictional private investigators
like Sam Spade would say, 'True, and you only need
a hairpin to do it.' That's the way it is done in the
movies and on television, but locksmiths claim
opening the most common pin tumbler lock without
the key designed to fit it requires a piece of flat
steel called a pick and a tension wrench.

"Nevertheless, the correct answer to the above
question is 'true.' Every locking device can be
opened with its own key or code."
