Kids Trike

Kids Trike

The Kids Trike is similar in design to a trike I built for my friend Simon. It is scaled down having a wheelbase of 30". The wheels are polypropolene 16" up front and 20" rear. The front hubs were modified with aluminum billits which are machined to except 12mm. bearings and high tensile bolts. The trike has road brakes. The trike has steering arms welded to the axles trailing back and kept in toe by a 1/4" stainless steel rod and 1/4" female rod ends. This makes for precise steering. The seat is 3/4" tubing with pool noodle wraped and nylon laced seat. The trike was test piloted by my friends (Cripy) daughter. It appears to be a hit.

Kids Trike

This Kids Trike is similar in design to a trike I built for my wife (Storm). The trike has round tubing. I had a bunch of tubing left over from another project and descided to use it up. The wheels are polypropolene 16" up front and 20" rear. The front hubs were modified with aluminum billits which are machined to except 12mm. bearings and high tensile bolts. The trike has disc brakes. The trike has steering arms welded to the axles trailing back and kept in toe by a 1/2" aluminum rod and 1/4" male rod ends. This makes for precise steering. The seat is 3/4" tubing with nylon mesh. The trike was test piloted by a group of kids from Base Borden during an Expo. It appears to be a hit. It also stood up very well. I lent it to a young lady whom has a problem balancing. She will train on it and use it during her triathlons for kids. She was riding a two wheeler with training wheels during the riding part of the triathlon. The Kids Trike will make that part of the race easier. I will update the site with her progress.
