Closed eyes

I travel with my six-year-old son each weekday past the part of the Oak Ridges Moraine earmarked for development as discussed in Jonathan Fowlie’s article (Protester Greets Buyers of Properties on Moraine – Oct. 18).

Recently, as we headed up Yonge Street, my son told me that he was going to close his eyes because he did not want to see the area “that’s had all of its trees taken away.” I wonder what lessons my son is learning from what he sees (or, in the case of vestiges of nature, what he no longer sees).
