In your Nov. 14 article, Growth Confronts Moraine, one builder says the challenge is to find the balance between saving green space and satisfying housing demand. Recently, as I drove by the very development site shown in the photo accompanying the moraine article, I watched as a frog hopped away from the massive housing project, now stripped of vegetation, and onto the road. While I did my best to not run him over, I figured this was an exercise in futility. Maybe the frog knew he’d lost his home for good, and decided to end it all.
I view the eviction, if not the likely loss of that frog, as very sad – and as a red flag signaling that local ecosystems are being visibly stressed. So much for “balance.”
