Cycling Rail Trails
Uxbridge, Sunderland, Lindsay, Omemee,
Peterborough
Love cycling? Hate traffic? Then this trail is for you!
Here's a trail that will get you from Peterborough to Uxbridge via
Omemee and Lindsay in the peace and quiet that can't typically be found on
the roads of Ontario. The trail follows an abandoned railway line, with only
a few minor detours around short sections where the right-of-way is in
question.
Unfortunately, this web page was designed for frames capable browsers, which, if
you are reading this, your's is not. If possible, you should upgrade your
browser to a frames compatible version. I have put the intro page from the
frames version of the website here.
The entire trail is about 82 km in length, 88 km if you take the 3 km
spur line into Sunderland and back.
I would not recommend this trail for bikes with narrow tires as the trail
surface is often rough and/or loose.
This site is a work in progress and will develop over time.
Feedback, in
the form of questions, corrections, clarifications, and suggestions, is
always welcome.
