Maanjidowin Saddington Park in Port Credit was the site of an extraordinary event on August 6, 2005. Maanjidowin was a celebration of 200 years of friendship between Mississauga residents, old and new. Treaty 13A was signed on August 2, 1805. Paul Smith designed the MSHS display. His goal was to get visitors involved by hooking a mermaid (stonehooking, that is) from the lake and encouraging people to vote on the future of the Lakeview Generating Station by knocking down the four sisters with bean bags. The kids loved it, and even a few adults "cast" their votes. To commemorate Clarkson and its farming roots, Mary Finley had ice-cold strawberry snacks on hand. |
