Sarah Polley and Stephen Rea play lovers. Or teacher and student. Maybe both. It's not a bad film, but not outstanding either.

For some reason, I'm reticent to talk about the film. Everyone in the film is just fine, but the movie as a whole left me wanting more. But what? More depth to the characters? This is, after all, largely a character study. More understanding of why Rea's character has a fondness for women who are so much younger than he? Polley's character's mother asks him: "What do you have against women your own age?" That's exactly the right question, and I wish I understood the answer.
