Chuan and Jean will perform a Latin-Ballroom show: Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Waltz, Tango, and Viennese Waltz in 2 different costumes around 10:00-10:20pm. The cost is a mere $15/person ($10/person for university students). Typically such an event would cost $35/person.

Movie: "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights" Fri 2004-02-27

Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights

There is a new movie called "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights" out Feb 27. Click here to see the official website with the story, trailer, photo gallery, etc.

Set against the decadent glamour and escalating danger of revolution-eve Cuba (Nov 1958), Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights re-imagines the 1987 film phenomenon from an exciting new perspective. It tells a timeless story of a young woman's discovery of love, sensuality and independence - but with a sizzling style and rhythm all its own. Click here to see the movie trailer.

If any Toronto Dance students would like to see this movie with us at a movie theatre on Fri Feb 27 late evening, please contact us.

Outing report: This was not an official outing. We had 13 people who watched the movie on Fri at the 10:10pm show. We then went out to have dessert together and had a great time until 1:30am!

Outing report: We broke the record with 79 Toronto Dance members and 38 guests, totalling 117 people!! Sharon, who has the reputation of teaching very big group classes has now taught the biggest club class of an estimated 160 to 180 people simultaneously without a microphone! Thank you all who came out to support the outing!

Outing for Salsa-Nightclub students Sat 2004-02-07

There is an outing Sat Feb 7 to El Rancho. Arrive 9:45-10:00pm. There is a (very) beginner dance lesson (not by Toronto Dance) on the upstairs floor at approximately 8:45-9:45pm. If you go for the lesson, it will cost you $10. Women only pay $1 between 9:30pm and 10:30pm. Men have to pay $10 at any time on Sat. However, if you click and print the coupon, you could try using the coupon between 9:30pm and 10:30pm to get in for $1 (it usually works but it depends on who is collecting the money). If you want the lesson at 8:45pm, you have to pay $10.

El Rancho is at 430 College St (north-east corner of College and Bathurst). Public parking is available at the south-west corner of College and Bathurst. Click here for a map.

Toronto Dance students are invited to dance on the lower floor (fewer people, less intimidating, less smoking). Chuan and Jean will be there to help you. It gets crowded after 10:30pm. Please check in with Chuan or Jean.

Another way for men to save money is to buy the On The Spot discount membership card. Click here for more details.

Outing report: We had a total of 71 people at this outing (49 Toronto Dance members and 22 guests). This doesn't quite break our previous record of 77 people on 2003-11-08.
