Private Outing for Salsa-Nightclub students Thurs 2005-03-17

There is an official private outing Thurs Mar 17 to El-Rancho for students at all levels. Please check your emails for details. There are beginner lesson is taught by Sharon Galor from Toronto Dance. The lesson is 8:30-9:00pm. Dancing is 8:00-8:30 and 9:00-10:00pm. The cost is $2/p.

Outing report: Mostly level 1 and 2 students attended. We had 84 Toronto Dance members and 19 guests for a total of 103 people.

Outing for Latin-Ballroom students Fri 2005-03-11

There is an official outing Fri Mar 11 to Westway Club for Latin-Ballroom students at all levels. Please check your emails for details.

Westway Club is located on 291 Evans St - click here for a map. It starts at 8:00pm. The discounted cost is $12 including a light hot meal at 10:00pm. Dress code applies - no jeans or T-shirts. Contact us if you are interested in joining us.

Outing report: This was a fantastic outing. Many people enjoyed it, including being able to dress up for an elegant evening and dance the night away! We had 63 Toronto Dance members and 7 guests for a total of 70 people.

Come out and watch latin-ballroom competitors from around Ontario! The "Ontario Closed Championships" competition is in Toronto at the Rameses Shrine Temple at Keele and Sheppard. Contact us if you are interested in going.

Movie Outing for all students Sat 2005-03-05

Shall We Dance?

Toronto Dance has the exclusive use of a movie theatre to show dance-related movies. On Sat Mar 5, 11:45am to 1:45pm, we are showing "Shall We Dance?", the 1996 Japanese version (with English subtitles). It is an excellent movie, better than the 2004 Hollywood version. It features Waltz, Quickstep, Rumba, Paso Doble, Mambo.

An email will be sent to all current Toronto Dance students inviting them to this exclusive showing. Click here for more details and reviews of the movie.

Outing report: There were 42 Toronto Dance members and 7 guests for a total of 49 people. We also decided to go across the street to Mariko Japanese Restaurant (same Japanese theme!) for lunch. We totally shocked the waitress because we had 23 people entering the restaurant for lunch!

Outing for Latin-Ballroom 2+ students Fri 2005-03-04

There is an official outing Fri Mar 4 to Qssis for Latin-Ballroom students at level 2 and higher. Please check your emails for details.

Qssis Banquet Hall is located 3474 Kingston Rd (at Markham Rd) - click here for a map. It starts at 8:00pm. The cost is $12/p including a light hot meal at 9:00pm. Dress code applies - no jeans or T-shirts. Contact us if you are interested in joining us.

Outing report: There were 25 Toronto Dance members and 7 guests for a total of 32 people. The dinner served was roast beef and it was fabulous.

Miss Tourism World contest Sat 2005-02-26

Bree and Sarah Bree - Miss Tourism Canada

Toronto Dance wishes the best of luck to Bree Honey and Sarah Vandermeer (representing North West Territories) in the up-coming "Miss Tourism World" contest held at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe on Sat Feb 26. She is the 2005 Miss Tourism Canada and she is a student in our Salsa 2 class. She was also our student in Salsa 1 back in Spring 2003.

There are 82 contestants from around the world. This event will be streamed live to a live audience via the Internet and TV stations across the world. Stay tuned for further updates.


Private Outing for Salsa-Nightclub 1-2 students Fri 2005-02-25

There is an official private outing Fri Feb 25 to Sage for students at levels 1 and 2. Please check your emails for details. There are level 1 lesson taught by Chuan Chee from Toronto Dance. The lesson is 9:45-10:30pm, included in the discounted price.

Outing report: There were approx 100 dancers attending this private outing.

Outing for Salsa-Nightclub students Fri 2005-02-18

There is an official outing Fri Feb 18 to Acrobat Lounge for students at all levels. Please check your emails for details. There are level 1 lesson taught by Caryl Cuizon and a level 2-3 lesson taught by Sharon Galor, both from Toronto Dance. The lessons are 8:45-9:45pm, included in the discounted price.

Outing report: There were 138 Toronto Dance members and 55 guests for a total of 193 people! By 10pm, there were 160 people, making up 80% of all the people there!

Toronto Dance appearing in Ming Pao newspaper Fri 2005-02-11

Ming Pao, the Chinese newspaper, has a special Valentines edition. There is an article about Toronto Dance and Wedding Dance choreography.

Outing for Swing students Fri 2005-02-11

This is an outing for the Toronto Dance students taking Swing and West Coast Swing. One of our instructors, Lynn Wilsher, is teaching Swing at a Toronto Swing Dance Society event.

The schedule is:

  • Dance lesson - intermediate: 8:00-8:45pm
  • Dance lesson - beginner: 8:45-9:30pm
  • General dancing: 9:30pm to midnight
During the general dancing, a variety of Swing music is played: West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Hustle, Balboa, Lindy Hop. Feel free to ask anyone (beginner to advanced) to dance.

The location is: The Lithuanian House, 1573 Bloor St. W, just west of the Dundas West subway station. Parking is available until midnight on Bloor St and on side streets. The Lithuanian House has it's own parking lot 50 yards north of Bloor St on Dorval Rd. Click here for a map.

The costs are:

  • $13 for non-TSDS members
  • $8 for TSDS members
  • $7 for those under 21 and over 60
Dance lessons are included in the cost.
