I always loved to dance and spent most of my free time during my high school and University years competing in Ballroom and Latin Dances. It was more than 20 years ago and half a globe away, in Europe. When I came to Canada I noticed that dancing was not as popular here.

Over a year ago, when I suddenly became a widow, I started looking at various dance schools hoping to start dancing again. I visited and briefly attended a few of Toronto dance studios and them I took Level 1 Ballroom Dance class at the Toronto Dance Inc. taught by Chuan Chee. I probably did not learn anything new, my legs were used to follow steps but I was amazed watching the progress of my piers. The 9-hour class transformed total non-dancers into people that would be comfortable to get up and ask a lady to dance. I loved Chuan’s teaching methods; especially the way he taught men to guide their partners. He told the men that they must make the decisions, followed by proper steps and moves at the exact time so every lady can follow them on the dance floor. Chuan showed men, how to be men, especially in Tango. His instructions were gradual and easy to follow. Within 9 hours he taught his students the basic steps to foxtrot, waltz, tango, cha-cha, rumba and jive – 6 most popular dances.

I believe that Ballroom dancing is a beautiful social sport and that every person should be able to dance at least basic steps. Congratulations Chuan!!!!!

First of all, I would like to thank Chuan and his wife for a wonderful class. I had the privilege to take Latin-ballroom 1 & 2 with them in February and April season. It was a fun learning experience. Chuan has an excellent way to teach and explain everything with clarity. He also adds a lot of humour while teaching. I am myself a teacher, and appreciate the fact that he always wants the best for you and also challenge you. I enjoyed his class and would recommend it to anybody who would like to learn how to dance.

Chuan, I would like to thank you for teaching me dancing over the last year. Huyen and I still dance together actively, and we have a lot of fun. Indeed, your dance instruction has brought us very close together (as you can see by our wedding announcement). Personally, it has given me much more confidence on the dance floor; it provides some good physical activity / release from work stress and of course it is something that Huyen and I share and enjoy. Your attention to detail has been a huge impact in learning the moves. In one year I have been able to learn the basics of foxtrot, cha-cha, waltz, samba, tango, jive, rumba, quick-step...it's been fantastic!

I've often chatted to my parents and friends how much I had learned in the past year...my father responded how much he wished he had picked up dancing. And now of course my mother wants me to teach her to dance. Of course I am no expert, but to have the basics down for these dances is great. Thank you.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy Tuesday nights, and I'm sure others too. You're great instructor - I like the pace of classes as well as the way you use humour in teaching. You have a unique ability to inspire and motivate people to practice beyond lessons.

I missed my first class and was pleasantly surprised that you also arrange alternate classes to catch up for everyone who might miss a lesson. Also I like how well classes are organized so that there's always a partner to dance with. And we get to change partners too.

Dancing is a lot of fun. I'm pleasantly surprised to have learned quite a few steps for 2 dances after only 3 lessons. And dancing is so different when you actually know what you're doing. I can't believe I haven't discovered it sooner.

In each class when you show us new moves, they seem bit confusing but by next week it's all clear and it's amazing to see the progress. Thank you for that.

RBC Annual Awards 2008-09-25 - Wendy Tyler (event planner) Sep 29

As an event planner, it is always a challenge to provide great entertainment for my clients. Toronto Dance put on a phenomenal performance for my 600 person audience. The three couples performed with exemplary professionalism and clearly were very talented. The added plus was that they interacted with the crowd after their performances and absolutely wowed them. The dance choices, the costumes, the combination of elegance and fun really made our event a huge success. Thanks to Chuan for his guidance and the wonderful performers. I can't wait to have the opportunity to use them again!
