"Night had fallen while we worked and with the
cooler air, fingers of fog began to edge towards us. I could hear the gentle
slap of water against the dock, and smell the slightly fishy odour that rose
from the lake.
Suddenly, a giant shower of red and gold stars broke over our heads. There was a loud boom, and the ground under our feet reverberated. "They've started the fireworks already!" Paige cried.
More fireworks crackled across the sky over the lake, bathing the scene around us with light. And in that light, we saw a small motor boat with a single occupant approaching the beach below us."
"It's him!" I cried.
".....Treasure at Turtle Lake is a fast-paced and an attention-grabbing read. This would be an excellent book for a reluctant reader. As the book is divided into bite-size chapters, the reader can decide to take it slowly or to keep reading “just one more chapter.” Lori Giles-Smith - Assistant Librarian at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, MB
"......The reason I liked the main characters is because they felt so real to me. I felt like I was in a movie!!!
. . . I thought that Treasure at Turtle Lake was simply wonderful! The descriptions, the action, the mystery, and the humour! I think that whoever likes adventure would like this book because there's LOTS of adventure. It's a fast-paced, exciting and fun book to read. . . .I also liked the way the words flowed across the page like water on sand. Ages 8 to 12 or 13 would enjoy this book.......I'll give Treasure at Turtle Lake 5 shimmering stars to treasure." Sarah's Stars. www.kalwriters.com/kidswwwrite/reviews.html
