Minutes: Spring Business Meeting

I Welcome and Opening Remarks - Meeting called to order by Anne Neuman, president.  
II Adoption of Agenda - Motion to adopt the agenda as printed: George McMillan, seconded by Susan Drinkwater, carried.  
III Minutes of previous meeting  The printed minutes of the October 09, 2009, branch meeting were distributed and read.
Acceptance moved by Jerry Stubbings, seconded by William MacMillan, carried.
 
IV Business arising from last meeting:
  • Donations to Clan Centre:  A letter received by Harold from Chief George acknowledged the two cheques. The letter, read aloud by Harold, included some of George's memories of the time he spent in Kingston during his father's tenure at the university in 1937 and 1938.
  • Annual Historic Sites Tour: "June 26 Historical Car Tour" (Please see item VIII, Events Planning)
 
V Treasurer's Report: Harold distributed copies of the current Balance Sheet.
  • The branch's donations of 100 ($167.17 Cdn) to each of the International Clan Centre, and to Project MAOL have been sent.
  • A donation of $25 was made in Memory of Rae MacCulloch.
  • The Book Account GIC has been renewed for 2 years to May 1st, 2012.
    Acceptance moved by Harold MacMillan, seconded by Susan Drinkwater, carried.
 
VI Correspondence/Communication Report:  
VII Book Committee Report:
Harold MacMillan presented his item organizational scheme for the Mary Beaton collection. Suggestions for the role of volunteer help with the papers were put forward and Harold indicated that they could be useful, although the materials required a very knowledgeable person in charge of the filing and integration.
Acceptance moved by Harold MacMillan, seconded by Wm J. MacMillan, carried.
 
VIII Events Planning:
  • Glengarry Highland Games - Maxville: Anne and Margaret will be setting up the MacMillan table and display in the Clans building, likely with the assistance of Bill and Carol and George and Joyce.
    If you can offer some time on Saturday, July 31, to help in meeting and greeting clan table visitors at the Games, please contact Harold MacMillan or Jerry Stubbings.
    The Clan Parade is getting increased attention during the opening ceremonies so a strong turnout for the MacMillan contingent is encouraged. Please check in (preferably before 11:00 am) with Harold or the clan table for parade formation time and location.
  • Historic Sites Tour: The Glengarry Historical Society's annual Historical Site Tour is in planning for June 26. Phone the Dunvegan Museum for information on reservation space: (613) 527-5230

IX New Business:
  • Hugh P. MacMillan has a second edition of his "Adventures of a Papersleuth" available.
