Minutes: Spring Business Meeting

I Welcome and Opening Remarks - Meeting called to order by Anne Neuman, president.  
II Adoption of Agenda - Motion to adopt the agenda as printed: George McMillan, seconded by Susan Drinkwater, carried.  
III Minutes of previous meeting  The printed minutes of the May 08, 2010, branch meeting were distributed and read.
Acceptance moved by Susan Drinkwater, seconded by George McMillan, carried.
IV Business arising from last meeting:
V Treasurer's Report: Harold distributed copies of the current Balance Sheet.
  • Discussion of the quantity of "Posters" still in inventory and their distribution took place.
  • The Book Account GIC was previously renewed for 2 years to May 1st, 2012.
    Acceptance moved by Harold MacMillan, seconded by George McMillan, carried.
VI Correspondence/Communication Report:  
VII Book Committee Report:
Harold MacMillan had nothing new to report. He has not been able to locate any planning in Mary's documents for a book design.

VIII Events Planning:
  • Glengarry Highland Games - Maxville: the MacMillan table and display should be set up in the Clans building by 9:00 am.
    If you can offer some time on Saturday, July 30, to help in meeting and greeting clan table visitors at the Games, please contact Harold MacMillan or Jerry Stubbings.
    The Clan Parade will be getting increased attention with the games theme "The Year of the Clans" so a strong turnout for the MacMillan contingent is encouraged. Please check in (preferably before 11:00 am) with Harold or the clan table for parade formation time and location.
  • Historic Sites Tour: The Glengarry Historical Society's annual Historical Site Tour is in planning for June 25. Phone the Dunvegan Museum for information on reservation space: (613) 527-5230
  • Fall Celebration: The possibility of staging a "Musical Evening" in conjunction with the "Family History Day" event in Vankleek Hill was examined. Family History Day is set for Saturday October 1st. Performers, program structure, times and location will be investigated and details will be forthcoming in the near future. Members present agreed on a $10 door fee for the Musical Evening. A motion by Susan Drinkwater,seconded by George McMillan, that half the proceeds from admissions to the Musical Evening be given in support of Family History Day was voted on and passed.
    Events Planning acceptance moved by Susan Drinkwater, seconded by Jerry Stubbings, carried.
IX New Business:
  • Hugh P. MacMillan's second edition of his "Adventures of a Papersleuth" with a new cover and an index is available.
    Hugh's new website:
  • Branch membership fees and payments to Clan Centre are to be considered at the next meeting.
X Concluding Remarks:    President Anne Neuman expressed her thanks to all in attendance.
