Information about the CBC's Gino Silvi Singers (Pictured left c. 1965) or the Leslie Bell Singers, who sang at the bandshell on the Canadain National Exhibition grounds in the 50's. Not much information or tape exists at the CBC for the Silvi Singers. The ever changing line up for Gino's group through the years included, among others, singer Gordon Lightfoot, broadcaster Don Parrish , actor Billy Van and .... my mother Mary Smith (she's the dark haired lady in the second row, left). The shows they sang on included the "Juliette" show, "Parade" and the annual "Timmy's Easter Parade Of Stars"
The Lesie Bell Singers began performing at the CNE in 1949 and contiuned until 1960 when Dr. Bell passed away.
Any information is welcome on both groups to build an internet archive for these "lost" singing groups. Please E-MAIL Me
