INFESTATIONS BY LARGE PARASITES
Two main groups of the larger parasites are dealt with here:
Arthropods--mainly members of the insect and spider families, usually living in or on the surface layers of the body.
Helminths --the parasitic worms and flukes which live in various organs, but especially the gut.
Most pathogenic arthropods are visible to the naked eye and vary from pinpoint to about 1 cm. in size. Helminths may be fine and hair-like, short and stubby, or long and tape-like, and range from only 1 mm. or so to a metre or more in length.
Please check with your local vet or pet shop to see what is the newest and safest treatment for any of these.
Red or roost, feather or de-pluming, harvest,
scaly leg & face & airsac mites.
