Introducing new Quail to Others You Already Have

Chinese Button quail are very territorial. You should never introduce a new Button Quail to others that have established themselves in a cage. It may be that the bird is not the sex you thought it was, but it may also be that the birds feel this bird is invading their territory. They would do this whether it was a male or female. You should place all the birds in a different cage until they get used to each other and then place them back in the original cage after a week or leave them in the new cage. If you have them in a large aviary, you can place them all in a small cage for a week and then place them all back in the aviary. This prevents territorial battles which is common among Button Quail.

They do not always fight with new birds, but if they do, this is one procedure that has worked for us.
