"I am a mother of two girls ages eleven and nine and a son who has just recently turned one. My daughters and I came to Canada and claimed refugee status here in January 2001. We have been through the entire process from claiming status through to appearing before the Immigration & Refugee Board for our hearing which was held on March 10 2004.

On March 11 2004, a decision was reached in our claim whereby my two daughters were granted Convention Refugee status and I was denied the same. You may well have heard of this case, as it was publicized as the lead story on the front page of The Ottawa Citizen on March 26th 2004.

I received financial support from both the public and my home church, a member church of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, to support the payment of an appeal into the Federal Court of Canada. The appeal for leave to commence an application for judicial review was submitted and received into the Federal Court on the April 26 2004."
