DAN CIURIAK is Principal at CIURIAK CONSULTING specializing in International Trade, Finance and Development. Formerly, he was Deputy Chief Economist at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT), Canada.

To date, Dan has written over 60 academic papers. He also lectures, reviews books, has written newspaper articles and been interviewed on radio and television.

GENERATING THE MOST INTEREST

"What if Everything We Know About Economic Policy Is Wrong?" has generated the most interest and comments on the internet, in blogs and in the media. The Globe and Mail had a column, BNN did an interview and TVO's The Agenda posted his guest-blog on their website.

"The Return of Industrial Policy" has also been the subject of some interest and commentary on the internet and "Participation Rate and Labour Force Growth in Canada" has had a steady readership since it was published in April 1980.


TRAINING, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
CAPACITY BUILDING

Dan has developed and delivered courses that provide training in economic data analysis and hands-on training in the use of generally available partial and general equilibrium and gravity models in support of Trade Policy. He has been a participant in Queen's annual Summer Institute on Trade Policy since its inception in 2009.

LECTURES

Dan has developed and delivered lectures and course modules at various Canadian Universities and Law Schools since 2006. His most popular lecture is "The Economics and Political Economy of Trade". He is a frequent guest lecturer at Osgoode Law School, York University in the International LLM Program.
