F5B and F5D Competitions at the World Level

Electric World Championship (F5B/F5D) 2000

Every other year are held World Championships in electrics. During the summer of 2000, they were held in San Diego, California, USA. These championships were preceded with the World Games (open to everyone).

For the summer of 2002, the World Championships will be held in Switzerland.

During the summer of 2001, we had an electric team selection on August 26th at the MATS field, just West of Montreal, Qc, in order to select the members for the team representing Canada in Switzerland, in 2002. Weather conditions were extreme and only 2 pilots participated in the high winds. A new selection is expected in the early spring of 2002.

Racing Circuit 2002

We are continuing the race circuit that was started last summer with even more participants. The circuit will visit several cities. It will travel to Ottawa, to Montreal, Kingston and Toronto. Even to the New York state and culminate back to Ottawa for the grand finale where we will identify the champions for each class.

Each location has a contact name. Races of different classes will be held at these locations. Email me or one of the contact name listed in the schedule for the latest details. A table below will show the schedule for the various activities at each event.

Technical Directors

With a few in the Montreal area (C2VM, MATS), a few in Ottawa (ORCC, OREO, Rideau Flyers), Kingston, Toronto and even NY state. The basic job of the local representative would be to work with this calendar to select a date fitting in that calendar and the local activities, get it approved by the hosting club, raise enthousiasm within the hosting club and then participate the day of the race with the others racers.

Oh! Bringing a few local helpers will also be quite useful to act as flagmen and callers; after being exposed to this desease, they are likely catch it and join the racing.

From the more seasoned racers, we will identify technical directors for each event. They will coordinate the race activities on location and will make sure the basic required equipment (flags, poles, rules, score sheets, etc) is brought. Several of these races will be held during funflies, the technical director will work with the funfly CD for safe conduct of the racing activity. These Technical Directors will decide on the proceeding of the race activities and as an example, may decide to use a linear circuit instead of a triangular circuit for safety reasons.
