Clearing Land In Wallace Township, Perth County.

This picture would have been taken in the mid-1890's and it shows a number men from Kurtzville and Wallace Township clearing land. The land could very well have been that of Albert Orth, the son of Peter Orth, since Albert is shown in this picture with his two children. Albert Orth is the man in the middle of the photo sitting on a piece of wood with an axe over his shoulder.

This picture appears in Magnified Memories: The History of Wallace Township, p. 81. The picture was provided to the authors of that book by the author's aunt, Mrs. Elsie Williams of Listowel, Ontario.
