Welcome to Eric’s License Plates

Do you have plates you’re thinking of letting go? I buy collections of plates whether small or large.

If I’m interested in what you have, I will and offer a fair price and pick them up in person if possible.

I’m always looking to expand my collection - Drop me an e-mail!

Below are some plates from my personal collection

G7 Economic Summit

This summit took place in Toronto in 1988. Plates were numbered 1 through 500 and used in the motorcade.

Saint Pierre et Miquelon

I found this plate on my recent trip to the French Island of Saint Pierre et Miquelon. These are very hard to get as the island only has 6,000 residents, and tough licensing laws.

1939 Doctor

Ontario issued Canada’s first reflective plate in 1939 as an experiment. They had beaded reflective numbers. Only a handful of these are known to exist.

75th Anniversary of the Ministry of Transportation (MTO)

In 1991 the MTO celebrated its 75th anniversary and gave these plates to some of their employees. These were only ever used as souvenirs.

1952 Ontario Trailer

Ontario did not issue a 1952 passenger plate due to the metal shortage caused by the Korean War. There’s only a few of these around in the collecting world to fill that gap!

1962 to 1968 Ontario

National Defence

Used for Canadian Forces/DND vehicles issued to Ontario bases. During this time period, each province was responsible for issuing plates of this nature. They started issuing them in this style in 1962 with a border, which was the same style as the regular Ontario plates of this era.

1987 Diplomat

Ontario started issuing undated diplomat plates in 1987. I’ve been searching for one of these for a while and finally added this one recently!

Open Skies Conference

This conference took place in Ottawa in 1990. This plate was used in the motorcade for guest dignitaries.

1936 Commercial

The front plate used the standard format; however the back plate featured a “lock strip”. This was an anti-theft device used during the depression. This was the only year Ontario manufactured these as they proved too costly.
