I am Erich Eppert and my hobbies include fly fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Building almost all of my toys allows me to play twelve months of the year. I tie my own flies, build fly rods in winter and build and play with canoe/kayak building and paddling from May to November.
Since retiring in 1998 at age 44, my goal is to build at least one of every type of floating human propelled craft. Canoes I have build include a cedar canvas Atkinson Traveller and Chestnut Featherweight, strippers include a Freedom 17/9, two Bob Specials, and book cases based on a Chestnut Featherweight single canoe . Kayaks include a Cape Ann Expedition and I have helped others build a Guillemot 19 Expedition and a CLC 17 LT. There are already three more kayaks in the works and I found a birch tree that will give it's spirit for a 14 to 15 foot birch bark canoe. Gawd I love this hobby. I can stop any time I want.
