January/05

Wow, it's been way too long since I at least updated the blurb on this page.

First things first. Sadly, I know that many people around the planet are mourning the loss of loved ones, so my condolences to them. And like so many others, I hope that international relief efforts can make life bearable for the survivors living in the disaster areas.

About fanfic. Yes, er, well. Next subject? ;) Honestly, I work on Shade revisions here and there whenever I can and it's coming along slowly.

I know, I know, I said this last year.

I've recently streamlined the plot at the end of Book II, a development that I'm very excited about even though:

a) streamlined isn't a technical writing term though it reminds me of early 20th c. futurism and vintage autos (which amuses me); and

b) my working on the end of Book II is absolutely no help to the reader who is waiting for the first chapter of Book II.

I'm long overdue in publicly thanking readers for so many kind wishes after my last post. Much appreciated.

Rebecca :)

Just a teeny reminder here if you'd like to receive notices of updates. All of my work is affiliated with Firthness. To receive an email notice of an update on my story, you must sign up for the Darcyfic mailing list which sends out updates on all Firthness authors and events. And, if you go a step further to become a full-fledged member of the community, you have access to all the stories. There are also the increasingly active boards where you can participate in site events/discussions and leave comments for authors in the appropriate folders if you wish.

I'm also currently posting A Shade in His Character at Hyacinth Gardens where you can find more great fanfic. You have to be a registered member at both communities to access their boards. Both sites contain adult content and are not recommended for younger Austen fans.

And, as if you don't have enough options, you can also email me directly at Lavender Girls via the link at the bottom of this, and all site pages, if you prefer to contact me that way. I always enjoy hearing from you! You will find though, that I generally ignore stalking. ;) Please note, I do not currently send out updates from my Lavender Girls email address.

Cheers and happy reading!

A MOST CONVENIENT MISHAP
Completed March 15/03  Rated R

WORKS-IN-PROGRESS:

A SHADE IN HIS CHARACTER

(last posted Chapter 6 July 16/04 Rated R)

We all know Darcy has a dark side — everyone does. This story is about Elizabeth encountering him again at the height of his resentful feelings in the wake of her rejection. I'm also sneaking in a retelling of the Persephone/Demeter Myth, so regular fanfic it's not. You'll just have to trust me that it will all turn out well in the end.:)

LOVING THE LONGEST
(last posted Nov.15/02  Not yet rated)

Enough of Darcy's anguish. This time we're in Elizabeth's head as she suffers loving without the comparatively quicker resolution of the original.

INVITED AUTHORS:

BEHIND THE SCENES by Carol

(Chapters 21-30 posted Jan. 17/04 Rated G for all ages)

Carol's story is a detailed account of the conversations, activities and feelings of the principal characters of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. It fills in the gaps by allowing us to delve inside the minds of Darcy and Elizabeth during the many dinners, walks and private contemplations that took place behind the closed doors of the novel.
