Plaster Structures 101
Welcome to the 2009/10 SLD Season.
Based on resounding success of the past seasson, the club has chsoen to continue with the "101" theme
this season with our "construction" project of Plaster Structure.
The format for the year will be very similar to last in that we will have clinic presented by our members
followed in the alternate months with the KitBusters workshops where you can practice what you have learned.
Of course we won’t be repeating the clinics from last year, instead we will be building on what we learned last
season with the focus on
those building techniques and skills that are unique to assembling a plaster model.

We now have a series of web pages dedicated to this project. Just follow this link:
Plaster Structures 101 to learn more about the program and related material.

The 2009/10 SLD Season
The SLD Executive is very busy assembling the agenda for the up coming season and from all
indications, it will be another stellar season with something for everyone!
Based on the feedback we received at the May'09 meet, the theme for the next season will be around
building a Plaster Structure Kit .
We are currently working through the details of the program but suffice to say it will be similar
to the
Laser Structures 101
in that there will be clinics and workshops tailored to the project.
There will be additional information posted regarding the Plaster Structures 101 program during the summer
so that you may prepare yourself for the Sept meet.
Of course this is not the only thing we will be doing as there will be something for
everyone, so stay tuned to this web site as
we will be posting the details as we approach the fall season.
In the mean time, here is the draft schedule for the 2009/10 season.

The KitBusters Laser Structures 101
It is now early 2009 and the KistBusters laser Structures program is well underway with
never before seen level of participation from the membership!
The members have now taken in two meets and numerous clinics on various topics pertaining to the
assembly of the kit. We have also held two very successful Workshops where members have been
able to practice what they have learned in the clinics under the guidance of the clinicians.
We have an extensive collection of web pages related to this program that covers
all the details from the history of the prototype to the Step By Step assembly complete with illustrations
and photpgraphs.
Just follow the
The KitBusters Laser Structures 101
link to this material.
Here are some photographs of members projects that are underway (or completed!):

The project is based on the Silver Plume
Bakery kit by Banta Model Works (Vermont).
The program will involve a series of clinics followed by workshops to practice what we have learned.

The SLD Mission
is to promote model railroading, fellowship and the NMRA. We will encourage as well as
provide the means and assistance to those interested in developing their modeling and
technical skills. Meets will feature clinics, layout tours, Achievement Program judging,
contests, displays and more. Programs will be developed that serve the
entire SLD, not just Ottawa. Our goal is to complement other organizations
including The Ottawa Valley Associated Railroaders (OVAR).
The NMRA Mission Statement: The National Model Railraod Association, Inc. advances the global model railroading community
through advocacy, standards, education and social interaction.
The SLD Executive
The St Lawrence Division Executive is elected by the membership where each position
is held for two years. Your current SLD executive is as follows.
Please feel free to contact any member
of the Executive if you have any questions or ideas. We always appreciate
your input.
WARNING
The SLD has obtained additional web disk space on another ISP provider
since we have exceeded our 'free' allotment with Sympatico. The only side
effect is you may be subject to some 'on line' advertising. We do apologize
for this unfortunate inconvenience as it is required in order to keep our
operating costs down.
