“Ian Andrew fully understands that only through thorough research and meticulous documentation can the true design intent of the game’s greatest designers be revived in a specific golf course. Ian has the passion and the knowledge to not only find this information, but also to fathom its relevance to the modern game. This is a tremendous combination and one that is all too often lacking in this day and age where restoration can often be an over-used term in golf course architecture.”

Gil Hanse

Restoration Architect

Great restorations take very detailed historical research and then the ability to replicate classic design techniques. You DO NOT need specific expertise on an architect to restore a course. BUT you do need to be committed to the principal of restoration and being true to what you find within the research. You must be able to put aside your ego and care deeply about the history of golf course architecture.

I have been entrusted to restore two of the World’s Top 100 Golf Courses (Golf Magazine), Highlands Links Golf Course (ranked 79th best in the World) and St. George’s Golf & Country Club (ranked 92nd in the World), both by Stanley Thompson. Highlands Links was a pure restoration since the course remains the most intact example of his work today. St. George’s has seen some changes, but the original work was carefully restored and now it is considered his greatest course.

I have restored a multitude of architects including Colt, Tillinghast, Raynor and Ross. I have worked from coast to coast in Canada and throughout the Northeast United States on multiple restoration projects. I’m comfortable with any architect, membership or location.
