16th Annual Newmarket Voice Festival Syllabus

Entries and Entry Fees
  1. The syllabus and entry form can be downloaded from this website.
  2. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES - Friday, September 30, 2011 - MAIL EARLY! Entries postmarked after that date will be returned. Please mail to:

  3. EACH class entered requires ONE application form. Participants who enter several classes must submit the equivalent number of entry forms. In duets, trios, and quartets, ONLY ONE entry form is required. All names and dates of birth must be shown on the one form. Blank entry forms may be photocopied for multiple entries.
  4. The entry form must be signed by the participant or a person authorized to sign on the participant's behalf and accompanied by the entry fee indicated in the Syllabus. Class changes will not be permitted. It is the responsibility of the participant and teacher to read all rules and enter the correct class by CLASS NUMBER.
    1. No music substitutions are allowed in "own choice" classes. No performer substitutions are allowed except in duets, trios or quartets when there is illness or injury. The substituting performer must meet all eligibility criteria for the class. If a substitute competes in his/her own entry in the same class PLUS the substitution entry, the original group shall be eligible for awards. The group having the substitute performer shall receive adjudication only and shall be ineligible for awards.
  5. Entry fees must accompany entry forms and cannot be refunded, except under circumstances where the entry is rejected by the Committee. Participants wishing to withdraw their entry must do so in writing to the Festival address as early as possible.
    1. Cheques are to be made out to: Newmarket Voice Festival. Any "returned" cheque that has not been cleared through the festival bank account will require an additional $10 fee which is to be included together with the replacement entry fee in order to keep the entry eligible.
  6. A participant notification sheet will be mailed to each entrant. This serves as the ticket of admission for the performer and the accompanist and should be shown to the hall secretary upon arrival to your class. If more than one class has been entered and there is a conflict with the times on the sheet, please call the Festival Director at (905) 830-6932. Please notify the Festival Office of any change of address or phone number following submission of the entry form.
  7. For those participants wishing to sing for adjudication only, please indicate ADJ on the entry form directly after the class number. These will be non-competitive classes.
