Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. I have developed this page mainly to display my genealogy research into the Butler Family (and other related families) of Port Rexton - Trinity area in eastern Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. I have tried to keep it as informative, and generic, as possible. Some of my other interests have been included, as well.
New information is constantly being added to this page, please visit again, later. In the meantime, visit some of the following sections.
This Butler family has it's "Old World" roots in the village of Iford, Hants., England, (near Christchurch, Dorset). The first son of John Butler and Mary Sanders, James Butler, was born in 1785. Sometime in the early 1800s, he immigrated to the island of Newfoundland and eventually settled in the Trinity area. The records of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trintiy, NL, show the marriage of James Butler, Iford, Hants., England, and Mary Bannister, Trinity, Newfoundland, in 1809. Trace the descendants of James and Mary, and the families that intermarried with this one, in the following pages.
Presents links to some great genealogical research sites, Newfoundland related family sites and other places of interest.
A collection of interesting stories, newspaper clippings and pictures of a genealogical, as well as a "personal", nature. All information is related to Newfoundland and Labrador. You may find some of it interesting. Give it a try!
