The firm of Georges Carettet & Co. was founded in Nuremberg in 1886 by an expatriate Frenchman who gave the business its name.  Its basic production of "teaching material", i.e. mechanical, optical and electrical educational aids was extended to cylinder "Puck" type cylinder phonographs.  It had showrooms in London, Berlin, Hamburg, Paris and Vienna.
