1/2 Home Made

Back to the other American Machines

Do not try to find this machine in any catalog, it is a partial home made machine, certainly modified by an American collector.  The cabinet with lid (lowered from Concert to Standard size), motor, bedplate, mandrel and gears of the upper works are from the German made Edison-Bell  Victor Concert.

All the rest is home made, the reproducer carriage being casted from an early Edison Gem Model A.  The fabrication certainly ended before the end of the efforts to make it play as the reproducer is not yet functional.  I have been surprised to made it play with a Model C reproducer as some parts are quite crudly made.   The horn is also strange (not from the same origine).  It is the only manufactured one that I have ever seen with the ribs made perpendicular to the horn surface.
