Seward Mt.

Seward from Donaldson 90-09-09

Seward's summit 97-08-18

This summit without maintained trail is located in the Northwest of the High Peaks Region. This region can be reach by Rte 3 South of Saranac Lake. It's a tree-covered summit without any viewpoint and a very little space for hikers. Seward Mt. is the highest summit of the Seward Range that also include Mt. Donaldson and Mt. Emmons. The unmark trail begins just pass a bridge and follows a brook with many nice waterfalls. The section just before the summit is very steep and covered with rocks 3 to 4 feet tall not easy to climb. Hikers usually made all the Seward Range from Seward Mt. to Emmons Mt. than come back on the same trail. As Seward Mt. is the highest point, it means that the trail descends to Emmons Mt. and then ascends to Seward Mt. Warning: This is a difficult hike along a narrow and muddy trail with lots of ups and downs.
