So you want a Web Page but don't know what to do.
Ok then here are some of the basics...
Text lines and pictures can be incorporated for a basic page
with no bells and whistles. an example follows..
viewing the code for a page can be done by clicking on "view" then "source" keep in mind you can view the source for all pages this way and you can also copy the page for viewing later.
Now if you view the source for this page you will see the code for this example, note the color and the fact that the second "for sale" is centered
"For Sale"
"For Sale"
now lets add a picture, in this example we will use a "JPG" picture JPG is a format that the picture was saved in it maintains the quality but is smaller in file size then other format such as BMP. Keep in mind that pictures and graphic's take a lot longer to load when large.
now the next 2 pictures are the same but the first is low quality and the second ih higher quality, see if you noticed how long it takes for the second one to load.
, and the second......
When placing a pic (picture) in your page you will need to decide on quality or speed, sometimes it doesn't matter if the quality is there if your just trying to get a message across.
Now keep in mind this is just a very basic page up to this point, this is just a single page with 2 pictures on it.
Now after composing your page you want to get it to your web space, this is sometimes the confusing part. It would be a good idea to of created a directory on your hard drive to keep your page and graphic's in.
I have this saved in my web page directory , I'm ready to upload it to my web space, keep in mind that my page consists of three files, the page document itself, saved in a "html" "htm" format ( most common) or some other format for use on web pages and the two pictures (.jpg" format, gif's and other formats will work as well)
At this point you will use your "FTP" program ( FTP = File Transfer Protocol ) ,to upload your 3 files to your web space.
some ISP's will have you save your fist page with the name "index.htm", the effect of this is that when someone goes to your page they will see the page rather than a directory page and you will not have to go into a long address to get them there, example
"www.provider.com/user" ,now this is preferable to something like this "www.provider.com/user/forsale.htm"
As this page is in an unfinished mode, more info will follow as i work on it.
