The Federation Mondial de Karate (FMK) or World Karate Federation is the world's largest all-style karate association. It is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and currently, karate is the leading candidate sport for the 2004 Olympic Games. The FMK recognizes only one national karate association from each country (it does not have individual  schools, or styles as members). In Canada, that association is the National Karate Association (NKA). The NKA is the only karate association recognized and financially supported by the federal government. In Japan, the homeland of karate, the FMK recognizes the Japan Karate Federation (JKF). The JKF, in turn, recognizes only one association for each style of karate in Japan. For the Wado style, this association is the JKF Wadokai.

Unfortunately, all of the major karate styles have splintered into several organizations. Wado karate is no exception. Although there are many karate schools across Canada that claim to be somehow associated with the JKF Wadokai, the CZWKA is the only Canadian Wado karate association that is recognized and supported by the JKF Wadokai in Japan. CZWKA is not associated in any way whatsoever with any other individuals, groups, or organizations claiming to be "Wado Kai" in Canada. We do have links and interaction with other legitimate Wado organizations in Canada such as the Wado International Karate-do Federation (WIKF), headed by Mr. Tatsuo Suzuki of the UK and  the Wado-ryu association headed by Mr. Hironori (Jiro) Ohtsuka of Japan. If you have any question regarding the CZWKA, or if you would like to verify the membership of any dojo (karate school), please contact us.
