The St. Andrew Council of the Rosary is
located at St. Joseph's High School in Barrhaven. The Grand Knight for 2006/07 is S/K
Barry Houle (823-4480).
The Council Executive meets at 7:30 PM on the
2nd Tuesday of the month at Longfields Manor and the General meeting is at 7:30 PM on the
3rd Tuesday of the month at St. Joseph's High School (Teachers Lounge).
St. Andrew's Council of the Rosary was founded
in 2003 through the efforts of Dr. William Country. It is named after St. Andrew, who was
the first Apostle. He was a fisherman and brother of Simon Peter and a follower of John
the Baptist. He went through life leading people to Jesus, both before and after the
Crucifixion. A Missionary in Asia Minor and Greece, and possibly areas in modern Russia
and Poland. He was martyred on a saltire (x-shaped) cross and was said to have preached
for two days from it. The St. Andrew Council of the Rosary works closely with St. Andrew's
Community Parish in Barrhaven http://www.saintandrewparish.ca/
providing funds for various projects, members being active participants in their parish.
